PS5 night with friends, planned properly
Four controllers, the cinema screen, and a group of people who all want to play. How to run the evening so everyone gets a turn.
ShowTime
A PS5 on a cinema screen is a different thing from a PS5 on a television, and the difference is mostly social. Everybody can see everything, so everybody is involved even when they are not holding a controller. That is the point, and it is also the thing to plan around.
The basics
PS5 gaming is at Pondicherry — Marthandam does not have it. There are four controllers, and the library runs to racing, FIFA and fighting games. The minimum booking for gaming is two hours.
ShowTime Max holds up to ten people at ₹800 an hour, which is normally the right room for a group night. ShowTime Mini at ₹500 an hour holds six and is fine for a smaller squad.
Two hours is the minimum, not the plan
Two hours is genuinely short once you have six or eight people and four controllers. Assume the first fifteen minutes go on everyone arriving and arguing about what to play, and that is a meaningful slice of a two-hour booking.
For a group of six or more, three to four hours is a better fit. In Max that is ₹2,400 to ₹3,200 for the room, split between the group.
Solve the four-controller problem in advance
Four controllers and eight people needs a format, or the loudest three play all night. Two that work:
**A bracket.** Fighting games and FIFA are built for this. Everyone plays, the games are short, and the people not playing are watching a screen big enough to actually enjoy. A bracket for eight in FIFA fits comfortably in three hours.
**Rotation on a timer.** Racing suits this better than a bracket. Fixed rounds, losers hand over the controller, and nobody has to arbitrate.
Pick one before you arrive. It is a two-minute decision in a group chat and a twenty-minute argument in the room.
Food and the rest of it
Outside food and outside cake are not allowed, so plan for that rather than around it — tell us what you would like when you book and it gets arranged. If the night is doubling as somebody's birthday, cakes start at ₹199 and need twelve hours' notice.
Karaoke is ₹350 if you want the evening to change gear halfway through, which with the right group it will.
Booking
Half the total reserves the slot and the balance is settled at the venue. Rooms run from 9am to 1.30am, so a genuinely late gaming night is available. Weekend evenings are the first slots to go — book them further ahead than you think you need to.
